All Grand Junction municipal water customers are under a boil alert until further notice.
A major water main break was discovered Monday morning. Once the main is repaired, the boil alert will remain in effect until the state hygienic lab tests the water and finds it safe to drink.
Residents who have tap water should bring it to a rolling boil for at least 1 minute and then cool it before using it. The boiled water can be stored in clean, sanitized containers with tight covers.
Boiled water should be used for drinking, food preparation, brushing teeth, washing hands, and making ice or baby formula.
